My Story
Hi there! My name is Jara Douse, and I have the joy of serving as the Women’s Director at 423 Communities.
I grew up in church but in an environment that valued appearances over genuine relationship with God. Conversations about faith, emotions, and sexuality were avoided, leaving me confused and searching for answers on my own. When I was 12, I was shown pornography from a friend, which led to a 7 year long struggle with addiction, shame, and a distorted view of love and worth.
Six years ago, I began to pursue a real relationship with Jesus for the first time. I began walking in true freedom and healing through recovery. Through that journey, He transformed my heart and gave me a passion to walk alongside other women facing similar struggles.
You can hear my full testimony below:
A little more about me
I’ve lived in Oklahoma my whole life, and I’ve been married to my best friend, Richard, for four years. We share life with my joyful five-year-old stepson, who fills our home with laughter and endless adventures, and our playful border collie, Koda Bear. When I’m not meeting with women or leading groups, you can usually find me doing something creative- painting, crocheting, or planning fun get-togethers with our friends.
Ministry Mission
At 423 Women, our mission is to walk alongside women seeking healing from sexual brokenness- not only to break harmful patterns, but to rediscover the abundant life found in Christ. We believe transformation happens in the context of Christ-centered community, where women can be fully known, deeply loved, and gently led toward freedom.
In our groups, women find:
Safe spaces to share their stories without fear or shame.
Biblical teaching that points to identity and hope in Christ.
Practical tools for walking in freedom and emotional health.
We address various forms of unwanted sexual behavior, including pornography addiction, masturbation, sex outside of marriage, and more—always through the lens of grace, truth, and discipleship.

Ministry Support & Funding Update
As a non-profit ministry, every part of this work is fueled by the generosity of people who believe in seeing women find freedom, healing, and restoration. My role within this ministry is made possible almost entirely through individual donors who partner with me in this mission.
Since stepping into this work in early 2025, I’ve been building a team of monthly supporters who make it possible to show up consistently for the women we serve. I’m incredibly grateful to share that our initial urgent funding goal of $1,000 per month has been met. This was the goal we had been prayerfully working toward throughout 2025, and seeing it reached has been a tangible reminder of God’s provision and the faithfulness of this community.
Because of this support, I’ve been able to serve in this role at about 10 hours per week. As the ministry continues to grow and my responsibilities expand into a Director role, the next step is increasing my capacity to steward this work well and care for women more consistently.
Our Next Step Goal
The next step is to support 15 hours per week, which brings the monthly support goal to $1,600- an additional $600 per month beyond what is currently pledged.
If you have a heart for this mission, I’d love to invite you to pray about joining my support team- whether through a one-time gift or a recurring monthly donation. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps create a safe, Christ-centered space where women can encounter healing and hope.
You’ll find visuals below that show where we are now and what this next step looks like moving forward.
Sponsor a Woman’s
Recovery journey
Many of the women who come to us are navigating deeply difficult seasons- emotionally, spiritually, and sometimes financially. Our heart has always been to make sure that cost is never the reason a woman has to walk through that alone.
There was a season where we fully covered membership for any woman who requested financial aid. While this allowed us to serve many, it also revealed something important:
For this program to continue long-term, we needed a structure that supports both accessibility and sustainability.
We’ve since introduced a tiered membership model that invites women to contribute where they can- while still making room for those who truly cannot. For women facing significant hardship, full sponsorship is still available- but now, it depends on having sponsors ready to support them.
How Sponsorship Works
When a woman applies and qualifies for financial aid, she is matched with the available sponsorship funding. Our goal is to ensure that support is already in place- so no woman has to wait to begin her recovery!
Sponsor One Woman
Commit to $35/month and directly support one woman’s place in the program.
Give to the Sponsorship Fund
Contribute any amount to a shared fund that helps cover women as needs arise.
Church Partnership
Churches or ministries can sponsor multiple women at once, creating access for those in their communities and beyond.
Through your support, women receive:
Weekly recovery-focused group support
A safe and consistent community
Guidance and structure during a vulnerable season
A space where they are known, supported, and not alone
